On my mission to point out what's f'ed up about Colorado, I raise these quibbles with the very best place I've ever seen a concert. WRITTEN & ILLUSTRATED by PETER MOORE, SPECIAL to THE COLORADO SUN
When I learned that James Taylor was coming to town, I checked the ticket prices, which were $250 and up. I just checked again, and they’re all re-sales in the $1k+ range. That would have to be a really great night, to justify the expense. But as I noted in my post, it’s the most magical venue I’ve ever been to, so, worth it? Saw Brandi Carlile and Maggie Rogers the last two season, and it was incredible to hear their voices reverberating off of the gorgeous geology.
If you want to hear the long saga of when I saw James Taylor at Newport Folk Festival a few years back, I'm happy to share the tale someday. Jumping to the punch line: that guy's dead to my daughter.
I idly checked in when I heard that James Taylor was coming to town. My wife is a big fan; JT’s soothing tones saw her through labor twice! The tickets were $250 and up for the first round of sales. Now they’re over a thousand. You’d have to have a really REALLY great night to pay that off. That said, I’m targeting Alison Kraus and Lorde this summer, for a bit less.
Ah, yes, the horrendous discomfort of attending a live concert. The ticket price is more than my mortgage payment. There is no parking left when you get there. The band is an hour late and shows up drunk. People in front of you stand on their seats, so you can't see the performance. The music is so loud you have to stuff napkins into your ears. The half-hour drum solo is intolerable. Afterward, there is a cattle stampede to exit, and it takes 90 minutes to get out of the lot. You were totally stoned so it seemed nice, but you can't remeber how to get home.
Sounds like you have issue too, Larry! I’m just hoping someone takes pity on me and invites me to see James Taylor at RR. Totally worth all of the downsides, imo!
It’s built into a mountainside, so no. Though I bet if you begged someone they’d take you up in a golf cart. But there are two hundred stairs IN THE ARENA! Not for the faint of heart or weak of limb.
Bucket list concert site for me, although perhaps I need to start saving up now if I expect to be able to afford any concessions.

Are there any hidden elevators at Red Rocks for people with physical disabilties who use a wheelchair or walker?
